Fast Food Workers Fight for Public Health
McDonald’s cooks and cashiers were joined by faith leaders and community activists from across Los Angeles today for a lunchtime rally at a Boyle Heights McDonald’s where at least 5 workers have tested positive for COVID-19. They are calling on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to support Public Health Councils policy to protect working families and prevent more loss of life. They have also been calling attention to the burger giant’s continued campaign of threats and intimidation against workers who led numerous strikes calling attention to unsafe COVID-19 conditions.
More than 6,450 people in Los Angeles County have died from COVID-19, while businesses continue to disregard public health policies required by the Department of Public Health and fight to remain unaccountable.
