Organizing Blitz Hits Long Beach City Employees

The LA Fed’s Organizing and Community Outreach Departments assisted the Long Beach City Employees, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Local 1930, in their internal organizing efforts. Collectively, we engaged with over 60 City worksites and enrolled 135 new members. We actively contributed to their initiatives, as they are presently engaged in negotiations and aim to prevent the city from resolving the impending budget deficit at the expense of the workers and the community they serve. 

Furthermore, reports indicate that the City is already recognizing the influence that the IAM is building, demonstrating that when workers organize, their power cannot be ignored.
