2022 LA Fed Workers Congress
Over the last few years, the people of Los Angeles have experienced an economic downturn, massive uprisings, and a global pandemic that has disrupted every aspect of our lives. Societal cracks that were once brushed over by our leaders have now been exposed for all to see. Structures once meant to protect the American people crumbled, leaving our most vulnerable without a lifeline. A unique set of injustices sent working families to the brink of eviction while at the same time forcing Black and Brown workers to the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19 where they faced increased exposure and added health risks in order to maintain their livelihood.
But in a time when we experienced the worst, we saw the best in each other. It was our coworkers, our neighbors, and our communities who banded together to respond in a time of crisis. It was our fellow union members and those in the Labor Movement who filled the void left by our social structures by connecting our communities to resources, taking action in the workplace for protections on the job, and taking to the streets to demand a better, more equitable society.
What has been realized in front of our eyes is the power and possibilities that come when we dream radically and reimagine a new world…ON OUR TERMS.
The Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO is bringing together labor and community leaders from every part of the region for the 2022 Workers Congress to present our vision for the future and to kickoff our collective strategy to grow the power of the Labor Movement…ON OUR TERMS.
Now is the time to dream, organize, and rebuild Los Angeles…ON OUR TERMS.
