Labor in the Pulpit Concludes Following a Month Filled with Faith and Fellowship

09.23.26

Every year, the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor partners with Houses of Worship across the county to join the labor movement in fellowship and promote shared values through the Labor in the Pulpit program.

The month-long series concluded with delegations visiting Holman United Methodist Church, where Reverend James Lawson served as Head Pastor for over 50 years, and First AME over Labor Day weekend.

The delegation to FAME was especially meaningful, as Los Angeles City Councilwoman Heather Hutt joined after the historic announcement that the LA City Council had voted to rename Pershing Square Biddy Mason Square.

This year’s Labor in the Pulpit series drew the most attendees since the program’s inception, highlighting how important this form of solidarity and community building is.
