LAUSD Board Votes To Approve New Contract

On June 16, as SEIU Local 99 members rallied outside LAUSD headquarters, the school board voted to ratify the new contract. Members overwhelmingly voted to ratify the agreement in May. Now, with the board’s vote of approval, the contract is in full effect.

Highlights of the new contract with LAUSD include:

• A 24% wage increase
• Increased hours and minimum hour guarantees
• Expanded access to healthcare benefits
• Stronger protections against subcontracting and staffing cuts

Negotiations continue over the impact of layoffs announced by LAUSD last month.
