2024 NALC ‘STAMP OUT HUNGER’ FOOD DRIVE GENERATES 1.8 MILLION LBS OF FOOD COLLECTED IN LA COUNTY

The end of May marked a busy month at Labor Community Services with the 2024 National Association of Letter Carrier Branch 24 “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive.

This year’s food drive was a wild success and was made possible by our brothers, sisters and siblings at NALC Branch 24, AFM 47, AFT 1521A, Carpenters, CSEA, IATSE West Coast, IATSE Locals 11, 33, 44, 80, 600, 706, 728, 729, 839 and 871, IBEW Locals 47, 11 and 18, Laborers 300, Painters DC 36, SAG-AFTRA, SEIU 721 Women’s Caucus, Teamsters Joint Council 42, Teamsters National Black Caucus, Teamsters Locals 396, 399, 63, 630 and 952, UFCW Locals 770 and 1428, UFW, UNAC, Unite HERE Local 11, USW 675, Utilities Workers 132, Miguel Contreras Foundation and Ford & Wallach, working in collaboration with 51 community partners like LCLAA, CHIRLA and others.

44 trucks (making multiple trips) were mobilized and collected 1,865,600 pounds of food across 45 Post Offices in LA County. 

The work to sort all 1.8 million pounds of food is ongoing through July, with our siblings at UNITE HERE Local 11, 100 volunteers with SoCalGas, and many others stopping by the LCS warehouse to assist in sorting efforts.
