Building the Bench: LA Fed & APALA Host Three-Day Organizing Institute
Organizing is the lifeblood of the labor movement, and to build our ranks and organize the next generation of workers, we need to train the next generation of organizers.
This past weekend, the LA Fed and APALA LA hosted a three-day organizing institute (OI).
It was a weekend of leaning into discomfort, growing, connecting, and learning. This event would not have been possible without the leadership and support of LA Fed Organizing Director Patricia Recinos and UCLA Labor Center Asian American Racial Justice Project Coordinator/former APALA LA President Lisa Lei.
Congratulations to the Ol participants and teaching fellows for a unique and memorable three days.
A major shout out and thanks to the fantastic unions and workers who helped make this happen: UFCW 770, UDW, UNITE HERE 11, and the UCLA Labor Center!
Here’s to the next generation of API union leaders!
