President Wheeler Receives Legacy of Service Award
On February 1st, President Yvonne Wheeler was awarded the Legacy of Service Award by the Los Angeles City Council to kick off Black History Month. Thank you to Council President Pro Tem from Curren D. Price, Jr., Councilwoman Heather Hutt, Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson, and the entire City Council for recognizing our President for all of the work she has done, and all of the work she will do.
President Wheeler was humbled and honored to receive this award on the first day of Black History Month. In her remarks to the City Council, she stated that the work is not over, and that she looks forward to working with all of them to build the society we all deserve.
The City Council also recognized a longtime local politician and advocate who previously served as both Speaker of the California Assembly and as Los Angeles City Council President, Herman J. “Herb” Wesson Jr.
