Los Angeles County Federation of Labor President Yvonne Wheeler released the following statement:

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, extends its deepest appreciation to Mayor Karen Bass for her leadership, partnership, and commitment to working people throughout her tenure as Mayor of Los Angeles. We are grateful for her willingness to stand alongside the labor movement and for the important work we have accomplished together to support working families and navigate some of the most challenging issues facing our city.

We also congratulate Mayor-elect Nithya Raman on her election. We look forward to working with Mayor-elect Raman and her incoming administration to build a stronger, more inclusive Los Angeles that creates opportunity, expands economic security, and improves the quality of life for all Angelenos.

As the voice of more than 800,000 union members and 300 affiliated unions across nearly every industry in Los Angeles County, our commitment remains unwavering: advancing good-paying union jobs, affordable housing, strong labor protections, and meaningful economic opportunities for working families.

The labor movement has always been an essential partner in building a stronger Los Angeles. We welcome the opportunity to establish a strong, collaborative, and productive relationship with Mayor-elect Raman and her administration. We look forward to building on the progress that has been made, addressing the challenges ahead, and ensuring that the voices, contributions, and interests of working people remain central to the future of our city.

We thank Mayor Bass for her service and partnership, congratulate Mayor-elect Raman, and look forward to continuing the work of building a Los Angeles that works for everyone.
