LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles County Federation of Labor releases the following statement on the Los Angeles City Council vote to ‘Keep Hollywood Home’:
“We thank Council Member Nazarian for his leadership in introducing the 7 motions that make up phase one of the ‘Keep Hollywood Home’ initiative,” said Yvonne Wheeler, President of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor. “We also thank the Los Angeles City Council for unanimously voting to pass these critical motions.”
The seven motions introduced by Council Member Adrin Nazarian make up phase one of ‘Keep Hollywood Home’, which aims to revitalize film and television production in Los Angeles by streamlining the permitting process, reducing fees, and eliminating outdated and redundant regulations that inhibit production.
“This victory belongs to the workforce. These are the people who don’t walk red carpets, but they make the magic happen,” said Council Member Nazarian. “These votes say: we see you, we value you, and we are willing to fight for your jobs.”
“There is no movie or TV magic without the labor and heart of our entertainment workers. The entertainment industry is a critical segment of our economy here in Los Angeles and we applaud every effort made to safeguard the livelihoods of these workers,” said President Wheeler. “We must continue to fight to ensure the good union jobs that provide opportunity and economic mobility remain here in Los Angeles County.”
