Chauvin Guilty Verdict: A Small Step Towards Justice

Statement from Ron Herrera, President of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO on the guilty verdict in the Derek Chauvin murder trial:

“The people of Los Angeles and across the nation can breathe a sigh of relief. Today’s guilty verdict holds Derek Chauvin accountable and delivers a small victory to the family of George Floyd. This is just one step, but an important step, in our path towards dismantling systemic racism and achieving true justice. The magnitude of the decision is not lost on anyone.  The fact of the matter is that George Floyd should be alive today.  And while this verdict cannot bring back the life of brother George, we hope his family and our communities can rejoice in his undeniable legacy and the immeasurable impact he has made on our nation.”
