POSITION DESCRIPTION
Labor Community Services Program of Los Angeles (LCS) is recruiting Intake Specialists to serve as the initial point of contact for individuals and families accessing LCS services. Your role will be to address their needs in a non-judgmental, respectful and empathetic manner and provide valuable feedback to help us continually improve our services. LCS is a nonprofit agency that serves unemployed and underemployed workers in Los Angeles County. We work diligently to meet our mission of distributing food and other goods and services to over 350,000 individuals yearly. LCS is the non-profit partner of the LA County Federation of Labor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Attentively welcomes clients to LCS, in person or by telephone, as a trusted source for information.
- Conduct needs assessment intakes, address immediate client needs and make appropriate referrals. Intakes are conducted virtually, by phone or in person, and in the community at LCS distributions and special events.
- Complete intake appointments to collect necessary information and consents and schedule follow-ups.
- Timely completion of all necessary documentation and sensitively conduct outreach activities, as needed, to validate and comply with case and program requirements.
- Effectively support client-centered activity; communicate and coordinate with external referral agencies to support clients based on needs and program availability.
- Maintain records of client interactions and write and finalize case notes within specified timeframes.
- Document and update pertinent client information accurately and comprehensively into various electronic systems within the required timeframes. Review, scan and upload supporting case documentation.
- Conduct verification activities, work with clients to reconcile any discrepancies, and submit and follow up on requests for assistance to the Senior Program Manager.
- Escalate any issues or barriers and relay client concerns to the Senior Program Manager promptly.
- Actively participate in LCS activities, events and campaigns, and professionally represent LCS to community members and partners; may conduct educational workshops for clients.
- Support the daily operations of LCS and engage in administrative activities and direct services as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in customer service or related fields.
- Previous experience with intake, scheduling, and outreach preferred.
- Fluent in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and rapport with clients.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Comfortable with technology and has demonstrated computer and software proficiency.
- Flexibility to work some weekends and evenings; driving will be required for some LCS work assignments.
- Valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle with proof of insurance.
SALARY
Starts at $40K depending on experience. LCS benefit package includes employer-paid medical, dental, and a vision plan for full-time employees and their qualified dependents, as well as life and disability benefits after probationary period.
