26th ANNUAL NATIONAL FOOD DRIVE SET FOR SATURDAY MAY 12:
On the second Saturday in May of each year, we take time out to help those less fortunate than ourselves by participating in the largest single food drive worldwide. Your Letter Carrier collects donated food left by mailboxes to feed the needy.
“DELIVERING FOR AMERICA”
Los Angeles NALC Branch 24 President Larry Brown asks all Residents in Los Angeles and surrounding communities to leave NON-PERISHABLE, UNOPENED food by their mailboxes this Saturday, MAY 12th. Each Letter Carrier will pick up the food left along their routes and return the food to the Local Post Offices where it will then be distributed to Local Food Banks. Since 1994, Branch 24 alone has collected 14,837,767pounds of food for needy people in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. With the high unemployment in California, the need is great. Donations from postal customers will sustain millions of hungry people, including our military families of armed forces members.
Help make this a successful community effort by contributing food for those less fortunate in our own community. Collections will be made in cities throughout the USA. President Brown declared “Our goal is to fill every Food Bank, every year, in every community nationwide.”
