L.A. Surpasses 6,700 Deaths to COVID-19

10.09.20

As Los Angeles transitions into the next phase of reopening, we continue to see a surge in cases and deaths due to COVID-19. Today, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported 1,256 new cases and 13 new deaths, totaling 6,741 deaths from COVID-19. Those are 6,741 mothers, fathers, siblings, and friends. We must do more.

The County of Los Angeles can help protect the public by establishing Public Health Councils to prevent new outbreaks and stop the spread of the virus into our communities. However, wealthy special interest groups and big business are against the policy and ANY legislation that will protect workers and their families. They continue to lobby against Public Health Councils, even as the death toll skyrockets, delaying the vote and spreading misinformation.
