Labor Day 2019: Parade & Action

Kaiser Protest Shuts Down Sunset Blvd

Thousands of healthcare workers, patients, and union members took to the streets on Labor Day, shutting down the intersection of Vermont Ave and Sunset Blvd in protest of Kaiser Permanente’s unfair labor practices and shift from prioritizing patients to profits and enriching top executives. Dozens were arrested in an act of civil disobedience during the protest.

Similar Labor Day protests were held in Oakland, Sacramento, Denver and Portland with tens of thousands of people marching. Click here to view photos of the action.

Fun & Solidarity at Labor Day Parade

Hundreds of workers, representing unions from every industry, participated in the 40th Los Angeles/Long Beach Labor Coalition Parade. A rally and picnic were held following the parade with Rusty Hicks, former LA Fed President and current chair of the California Democratic Party, addressing the crowd. Thank you to everyone who came out and participated.
