2020 MLK Day Celebration

Join the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s
legacy and great contributions to society and labor.
We are proud to announce Senator Kamala Harris as the keynote speaker of the 2020 MLK Day Celebration.

Senator Harris, a public safety and civil rights leader, is the second African American woman in history to be elected to the U.S. Senate,
and the first African American and first woman to serve as Attorney General of the state of California.

We are also proud to announce speaker Reverend James Lawson.

Rev. Lawson is one of the Civil Rights Movement’s leading activists, theoreticians, and tacticians.
Rev. Lawson worked with Dr. King to train students and volunteers in nonviolent direct action and helped coordinate the Nashville lunch
counter sit-ins in 1960, the Freedom Rides in 1961, the Meredith March in 1966, and played a major role in the sanitation workers strike of 1968.
