Los Angeles, CA – The following statement was issued by Rusty Hicks, President of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, regarding Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy causing the separation and incarceration of immigrant families:

“Both children jails and family jails are absurd – history will remember them as crimes against humanity. In Los Angeles, the labor movement stands by all immigrants because immigrants – documented and undocumented alike – make up the very fabric of our society and are the backbone of our thriving economy.

“As LA labor, we call on immediate and comprehensive reform of the U.S. immigration detention system. We commit to defending and protecting all immigrants. We also commit to defending and protecting all workers who take a stand against orders they are asked to carry out in violation of basic human rights.”
