Los Angeles, CA – The following statement was issued by Rusty Hicks, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, following President Trump’s repeal of DACA:

“On December 8, 2016, President Trump said: ‘We’re going to work something out that’s going to make people happy and proud. They got brought here at a very young age, they’ve worked here, they’ve gone to school here. Some were good students. Some have wonderful jobs.’

“On January 25, 2017, Trump said DREAMERS ‘shouldn’t be very worried’ because ‘I have a big heart.’

“Today, we learned that heart is cold.

“For decades, Los Angeles and California have been stronger, more progressive, and more prosperous than the rest of the nation because we stand with immigrant workers. We intend to keep it that way.”
