Labor Launches Its Third ‘Second Chance’ Bootcamp
This week, the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, the Anti-Recidivism Coalition, the Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council, and Los Angeles Trade-Technical College launched its third cohort class of 34 formerly incarcerated individuals from the Los Angeles Reentry Workforce Collaborative. For the first time, this class will feature three women in the program.
After the 12-week program, students will be placed in union apprenticeships. Union apprenticeships provide paid job training, good middle-class wages and benefits, and clear pathways for career advancement. Through this, the Collaborative is uniquely positioned to provide a second chance at life for individuals who receive constant barriers to sustainable employment.
