LA Times Journalists Speak Up
Journalists from the Los Angeles Times are fighting to form a union to safeguard the future of the institution and to have a say in the critical decisions that shape journalism. They give the community a voice, and they too deserve a voice on the job.
Newsroom staff organized and reached out to the NewsGuild, CWA. They will be asking Tronc, the Times’ parent company, to recognize them as a union. When they do, journalists will negotiate a contract that addresses stagnant wages, pay disparities, and declining benefits. We congratulate these brave women and men, who are stepping forward to create a workplace with better conditions and one that reflects the diversity of Southern California!
